Guide

About the Chart Maker

Copy a few rows from a spreadsheet, paste them in, and the chart draws itself. The first column names each bar, point or slice; every column of numbers after it becomes a series. Pick the kind of chart, give it a title, and download it.

Charts are drawn as clean SVG, so they stay sharp in slides, documents and print. Need it on Instagram or in a flyer? Choose a social size, or send the chart straight to the Post & Flyer Designer and build a post around it.

Which chart should I use?

Use bars to compare amounts between things, such as sales by region. Sideways bars suit long names, like survey answers. Lines and areas show change over time. Stacked bars show a total and what it is made of. Pie and donut charts show parts of one whole; they work best with six slices or fewer, so anything past ten is gathered into “Other”.

Getting numbers in

Numbers can include thousands separators, currency signs and percent signs: 1,250, $3.40, 12% and (120) for a negative all work, and a European decimal comma such as 3,5 is read as 3.5. Columns that are mostly words are left out and listed under the box. Tick “Swap rows and columns” when your series run across the rows instead of down the columns.

How to use it

  1. 1Paste your table, open a CSV, or start from an example.
  2. 2Choose bars, line, area, pie or donut.
  3. 3Add a title, subtitle and source; set the colours and size.
  4. 4Download PNG, JPG, SVG or PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data uploaded?

No. The chart is drawn in your browser and the files are made there too, so private figures stay on your device.

Can I paste straight from Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Copied cells arrive separated by tabs, which the tool detects. You can also open .csv, .tsv and .txt files or drop them on the box.

Which format should I download?

PNG for websites, chat and social media; SVG to edit in Figma, Illustrator or Inkscape or to place on a web page; PDF for print and documents, where it stays sharp at any size.

Can I use my brand colours?

Yes. Pick a main colour, or, if you have made a logo in the Logo Maker in this browser, click "Use my brand colour". The "One colour" set makes every series a shade of that colour.

Can I make an infographic or social post with it?

Choose a square, portrait or story size for a chart on its own, or click "Use in Post Designer" to put the chart into a post or flyer with your own text, photos and logo.

Is it free for commercial use?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no watermark, and the charts you make are yours.
